Samsung is the brand we see most often in our service book. Beautiful designs, sometimes fragile engineering. We have rebuilt more RF28 evaporator fans than we can count, reset ice rooms on four-door models, and decoded the SmartThings app on more than one Friday-night service call. This page lays out what tends to fail and what it costs to put right.
The RF28, RF22 and RF23 French-door lines have a well-documented evaporator fan failure mode between roughly years three and six. The fan ices over because of a damper or door-seal problem upstream, then the fan motor seizes. Replacing only the fan without addressing the door seal sends you back to us in three months. We do the full diagnosis.
Four-door Samsung fridges (RF23M, RF28R, RF29A) have an ice room in the fresh-food side with a heater and a timing module. When the heater stops, the room frosts and the auger jams. The fix is a defrost, a heater test, and sometimes a complete ice maker assembly replacement. We carry the most common assembly.
5E is drainage (drain pump, hose). dC is unbalanced load (suspension rods on top-loaders, shock absorbers on front-loaders). LE is water-level sensor or door lock. UE is unbalanced spin, sometimes a leveling-foot problem. We diagnose by code and run mechanical checks because Samsung codes are not always specific to the failed part.
The smaller upper compartment on the FlexWash family fails more often than the lower drum. Door switches, tiny drain pumps and the load-sensing logic are all weak spots. WashTower stacked units are simpler from a service perspective and we treat them like a normal full-size washer-dryer pair.
"My fridge keeps falling off the SmartThings app." Usually a router-side issue, sometimes the panel's Wi-Fi module. We diagnose both and will tell you when it is a network problem versus an appliance problem. We will not charge you to replace hardware that did not need replacing.

Honest answer: we do not push customers toward or away from Samsung. The 2017 to 2020 four-door fridges are the highest-risk Samsung products we still see in the field. The 2022 and newer line has improved. Samsung washers, ovens and ranges are generally on par with the rest of the market.
